We once found this darling vintage teapot half buried in the dirt. We pulled it out and it was filthy and missing the lid, but I was determined to save it if I could. We brought it home and I washed it up and found that, although it has a bunch of crazing and such on the inside, it's marked England on the bottom and I love it! I tucked it into our china cabinet and have enjoyed it for years!
I recently pulled out that teapot and decided to use it as a vase for some flowers from our garden. We were still waiting for most of our cutting garden to start really pumping out the blooms, but in the meantime, I cut a few of the first zinnias, one dahlia, some coneflowers, a geranium, some lantana, a petunia, a sprig of blooming mint and lots of colorful coleus!
It turned out to be such a beautiful and inspiring bouquet.....both the process of creating it as well as just seeing it every time I walked by the kitchen table. I decided to paint it because it was just too pretty not to share!
I hope this painting serves as a reminder that God is our Redeemer and if we're walking with Him, He is writing a redemption story for each of our lives. Perhaps we've had a rough go and the trials of this life have left us feeling a bit scarred or neglected. Perhaps there are things we wish we could undo or do over. But there is nothing God can't use in our lives for our good and His glory! We are never too far gone to be able to come to Him. There is nothing we could ever do that is too awful to bring to Him, that He won't forgive, if we come to Him with a truly repentant heart.
Perhaps He's already redeemed your life, like He has mine, and is writing a beautiful story of His faithfulness, forgiveness and merciful love. Perhaps this painting can serve as a constant reminder of all He's done in your life. I hope it will fill you with gratitude every time you see it.
