Bartley and I started a tradition years ago, that I have come to love so much and look forward to as soon as the summer flowers start to fade in our garden! As winter sets in and the holidays are upon us, we make a trip to our local nursery to see all of the poinsettias! With dozens of varieties to choose from, it is a literal feast for the eyes! There are so many different colors (way more than I even knew existed!!), petal shapes, leaf shapes.....so many different distinctions between them. We always bring home some to enjoy for the next couple of months, and often pick up some for gifts, as well. The hardest part is deciding which ones to buy!
It is because of this beloved tradition, that the Poinsettia Painting Series was born! I have found that, now that I know that all of those wonderful varieties exist, its impossible to paint just one type! And so.....this year, I have painted seven different poinsettia paintings for you to choose from!
I love to see the variety even among the white poinsettias each year. Some lean a bit more yellow, some a bit more green or more chartreuse. So with that in mind, I played a bit with the shading on this one and added a good amount of green. Set on the bright pink background, it's such a striking combo!
Whether you enjoy real poinsettias in your home every year, or perhaps struggle to keep one alive, :) I hope these sweet paintings will add joy and cheer to your holiday and winter decor for years to come. And the best part is, no watering required!! Ha!
