This painting evolved quite a bit from the first underpainting layers to the finished piece, but one thing that stayed throughout the entire process, was the antique silver compote vase! I love it so much, and had so much fun painting it to look like metal! It's an interesting challenge, and I love that this one ended up with an antique feel, hence the painting's name!
The florals are done in creamy tones and corals, with some mustards thrown into the mix, as well, and the background is finished out in a soft tan color with bits of turquoise underpainting peeking through in spots. The table top on the bottom of the painting is painted in a super dark (almost black) green which is a lovely bit of contrast in a shade that compliments all of the greens in the arrangement.
